Attributes
There are three playable types of Entity available in Emporium: Glories, Chimerae, and Implements. All Entities are described by a Primary Attribute, three Secondary Attributes, and a Deed Attribute. After choosing an Entity type, a player then chooses or defines their character’s Attributes and Deed according to the guidelines for that Entity.
The Primary Attribute is tied to the type of being that your character is, and demonstrates the core aspect of their identity - what their “deal” is. It has one major advantage and one major disadvantage, which are defined at character creation. Each Secondary Attribute provides a further advantage, and can be used to fill out more of the details of the character, further describing their appearance and abilities. Secondary Attributes are also tied to the variety of entity which the character is unless you take the Mix and Match Quirk. Finally, you specify a Deed: this is a specific act which your character is famous (or infamous) for in their homeworld. Your Deed will be displayed alongside your public bio on the Player Characters page.
Each Attribute has a short descriptor, which can be used as a short-hand reference to it, and a longer clarifying statement about what it does. The descriptor can be almost anything, but should be in some way indicative of the effect. For each Attribute, either choose one from the list or define your own. Note that player-defined Attributes (especially the mechanical effects) are subject to GM approval. We have given guidance below on the kinds of things which are suitable, but if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
A short description of Attributes follows below. For more details, see the specific page for each entity type.
Glory
Glories are immensely powerful and abstract beings, who only grudgingly conform to Emporium's corporeality rules. Click here for full descriptions and guidance on each Attribute.
Primary Attribute
- The Binding is a connection to a concept which both empowers and limits them.
Secondary Attributes:
- Eyes which are a source of directed power
- An Aura which manifests as a passive effect around the Glory
- Wings which provide protection, primarily from non-physical sources
Chimera
Chimerae are Entities with animalistic physical appearances and live in the immediacy of the present. Click here for full descriptions and guidance on each Attribute.
Primary Attribute
- An Instinct which drives their behaviour, and may either help or hinder in different situations.
Secondary Attributes:
- A Grasp which describes how they physically interact with the world
- A Coat which provides protection from physical dangers
- A Crest which is a display of their power
Implement
Implements are subtle cosmic workers that manifest with inanimate objects in the place of their head. Click here for full descriptions and guidance on each Attribute.
Primary Attribute
- Their Head which grants both a specific expertise and a drawback
Secondary Attributes:
- Some useful Paraphernalia which they are never without
- A Raiment which helps them in their day-to-day duties
- A Profession which has given them a broader range of skills
Deeds
All characters also have a Deed: a particular accomplishment which they are known for on their homeworld. There are no strict rules for Deeds, except that they should be phrased as “shorthand reference + elaboration”. Examples of Deeds which are typical for each Entity type are listed on their individual pages.
